Webin the vampire diaries, damon salvatore makes it immediately clear how chaotic and unpredictable he is, quickly presenting his many flaws in the series.

Webnext, damon gets hate because he acted like a petulant child when elena denied him which caused him to kill her brother, attack her friends, and random people.

That shouldn't be mistaken for me saying i approve of.

Webthey seem to hate damon because of how he messes with the storytelling of the tvd'verse and how his the becoming de facto lead character during tvd s4 and after lessened.

Webi like damon overall as a character in the sense of being an anti hero and doing the dirty work to ensure the job gets done.
