Webapr 18, 2022 · however, my personal longrifle (trudy) has a 38 barrel in. 54, and i think it's fine as a longrifle length.

Cut threads onto the tip of the horn (first time doing that) and screwed it on tight.

My other longrifle (patience) is a. 40 with a. 42 barrel.

So my personal opinion is that 38 is the absolute shortest.

I understand it’s possible to use lead, bismuth, or another soft metal birdshot, but iirc the spread dramatically increases due to the damage rifling does to shot.

If i were a brit i’d be interested in british trade rifles used.
